Our Biggest Strength: We Are Not Pretending to Be Something We Are Not

2026-03-20

Ocean Observers brings lived marine experience to science communication — frontline observers, rescuers, educators, and connectors between science and society.

We Are Not Academics With Large Funding Teams

And that's exactly our strength.

Ocean Observers is built on something that no amount of funding can manufacture: lived experience. We see the issues first hand — through rescue work, strandings, and real time at our coasts and in our seas. We rescue marine mammals. We attend strandings. We see pollution first hand.

And then we ask ourselves a simple question: why does the public still not understand how connected they are to the ocean?

What We Are

Frontline Observers We witness what's happening to our ocean in real time. That gives our work authenticity and urgency that you can't get from a lab.

Communicators We translate complex science into clear, relatable messages that people can understand and act on. Stories connect. Stories inspire.

Rescuers We dedicate our time and energy to helping marine mammals and protecting ocean life.

Educators We create educational resources, infographics, and visual tools that inspire knowledge and awareness. We combine passion with purpose.

Connectors Between Science and Society We bridge the gap between researchers, communities, and the public to drive real positive change.

Why People Will Remember Us

We bring lived marine experience into a scientific environment — and that has real value. We believe everyone has a role to play in protecting our ocean and our future. When we feel it, we protect it.

Our Partners

We are proud to be part of conversations that drive change and support organisations leading the way in wildlife conservation and research, including the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme.

Observe. Understand. Act.

For marine life. For coastal communities. For human health. For a healthier ocean and a better future.
